Health & Healthcare Access

Under‑5 mortality remains a concern.

Major health burdens: Cardiovascular disease (246 deaths/100k), respiratory infections/TB (143/100k), and cancers (125/100k). Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) emphasise maternal/neonatal disorders and musculoskeletal conditions

Tuberculosis epidemic: As of 2023, Kyrgyzstan had the highest TB incidence in Central Asia (~112 per 100,000), with ongoing threats from drug-resistant strains

Measles outbreaks: Over 5,000 cases reported by April 2025, including 9 child deaths; 95% of cases were in unvaccinated children

Poor health insurance coverage: Only about 69% of the population is insured under the national scheme; many services still require costly co-payments

Environmental & Disaster Risks

Natural disasters: The country is highly prone to earthquakes (nearly 3,000 annually), floods, landslides, and avalanches, affecting thousands and triggering crises

Environmental contamination: Heavy-metal and chemical pollution from mining threatens both ecosystems and public health

Air and water pollution: Urban centres suffer from poor air quality; only ~20% of wastewater is properly treated

Social Vulnerability & Rights

Child institutionalisation: Approximately one-third of children with disabilities are placed in institutions due to limited community support

Gender-based violence & exploitation: Domestic abuse, bride‑kidnapping (including girls as young as 12), and sex trafficking are widespread yet under-reported and poorly prosecuted

Police misconduct: Reports show that torture and ill-treatment in detention remain a serious problem; 76% of accused perpetrators are police

Where Charity Can Make a Difference

  1. Nutrition & food aid: Fund food distribution and nutrition support for malnourished children and impoverished families.
  2. Healthcare access: Support vaccination drives (e.g. measles), TB diagnosis/treatment, mobile clinics and subsidies for low-income households.
  3. Disaster resilience: Invest in early-warning systems, shelters, and community preparedness for earthquakes, floods, and landslides.
  4. Environmental health: Help build clean water and sanitation infrastructure, and support projects to reduce industrial and mining pollution.
  5. Child rights & protection: Enable family-based care, support disability inclusion, and fund shelters and legal aid for survivors of trafficking/abuse.
  6. Women’s empowerment & legal support: Back initiatives that combat bride-kidnapping, elevate gender equality, and provide legal assistance to victims.

Qurbani

This video captures the heartfelt moments of our Qurbani distribution, where your generous donations reach families who would otherwise struggle to enjoy meat during Eid. Each portion is carefully prepared and delivered to those most in need — from vulnerable widows and orphans to struggling households in remote areas. Your sacrifice brings more than just food; it brings smiles, dignity, and a sense of belonging to communities who feel remembered at this special time.

Through this Qurbani, we honour the spirit of Eid al-Adha by sharing Allah’s blessings with those less fortunate. Every cut of meat represents your compassion in action — nourishing families and reminding them they are not alone. Thank you for putting your faith into practice and standing with us to make a difference, one household at a time.
